|Starting with the program Digital Darkroom and an Apple IIe, Kathy has been exploring the manipulation of photographic images since the early eighties, in other words, since "dirt was new" in this field. As technology has moved on, so has she. Kathy continues to use Mac equipment but is now a devotee of Adobe's Creative Suite and more specifically, PhotoShop. With a keystroke or mouse click, she can transform any image she can import into her computer. Requests from local photographers and artists for digital services, prompted her to establish her own company, DATA MATE, which now provides services to the general public as well.
During the learning curve of each upgrade to PhotoShop, Kathy used natural subjects from her garden as self-assignments. She quickly discovered a technique that mimics fine art macro photography. With encouragement from other artists, friends, and family she has begun showing pieces from this collection. A sampling of her work can be seen at the Brick Gallery in Essex, Connecticut, through July 2006.
